Meet your celebrant!
I was born in Bristol, but I maintain my Scottish roots as I was made in Scotland, my parents having migrated from Edinburgh for my dad’s job when my mum was pregnant with me. I have a very large extended family (at last count I had 26 cousins!) so I spent a lot of my youth travelling up the M6 to visit.
A missed A-Level grade brought me to Edinburgh to my second choice University, Heriot Watt, to study a Business and Finance degree. The best mistake I ever made was that C in History as I’ve lived in Edinburgh ever since.
My Humanist journey began at my own wedding. We wanted a personal service and had seen a few friends married by Humanist Celebrants so knew it was the choice for us. Our guests loved it, and it still makes me giggle that we managed to add You’ve Been Framed into our vows. My favourite part of the ceremony was the ‘three things’. It was the only part of the day that was a surprise for me, and I couldn’t wait to see my husband’s reaction and hear what he had written about me.
I live just outside Edinburgh and have two children that keep us busy. Our 10 year old cat Rupert is much less effort, all he does is sleep and eat…
I’ve had a diverse career, encompassing various roles in administration, systems management, procurement and project management, which all taught me to be highly organised. I loved working in customer service and pride myself on going the extra mile to ensure client satisfaction. As a child, I always knew that I wanted to work in an office, but after spending 19 years cooped up in one, I yearned to get out and interact with people which lead to me pursuing a career as a full time Celebrant.
Outside of work and family, I am a Beaver Scout leader. Each week the colony of twenty-four young people meet to have fun and earn badges. It is so lovely to see them learning and growing and to take them on adventures. Although don’t try to speak to me after a weekend camp!
I am also a tap dancer. I only do it for fun, but I have been known to perform on stages across Edinburgh!
Being a Celebrant is such a privilege and I get immense fulfilment from my role.
I approach everyone I meet with warmth, compassion and a genuine interest. I find it so fascinating learning about other’s lives and the little twists of fate that set them on the path they are on.
Every life is a unique and beautiful story that should be celebrated in a way that's just as special.
Each ceremony is bespoke and written in collaboration with you, using your favourite memories, greatest achievements and life history to weave a full story of what makes you, you!
I hold a Celebrant and Public Speaking Diploma with UKCAPSA and am a fully insured Legal Marriage Officer with Fuze Foundation.
A portion of my fee from every ceremony goes to support the work of the Fuze Foundation, and I proudly share their values.
Now I want to hear about you!
